Just wanted to report that Tunis made a huge step forward on the west
coast! Held during the Open Sheep
Show, this competition featured many ancient breeds produced by
individual farms that conserve these important genetics. The competition was
open to all U.S. and Canadian exhibitors.
Eligible breeds for this
competition included: Black Welsh Mountain, Cotswold, Gulf Coast Native, Hog
Island, Icelandic, Jacob, Karakul, Leicester Longwool, Blue Leicester,
Lincoln, Navajo Churro, Santa Cruz, Shetland, Soay, Tunis, and California
Reds. The Heritage sheep show had 123 animals entered with 10 breeds
represented. I am proud to say...Tunis dominated the top spots!
The show
saw mostly Tunis and Lincolns in the top five in every class. Many of
the classes had over 20 animals in them. Thank you so much to Bob and
Alex for making this such an impressive
showing. They were also recognized for enormous effort in driving such a
long distance. Unfortunately we will not get our own show next year but
who knows what a few years will bring!
Official show results can be read
here.
This show
really forced the sheep people of the west coast to really look at our
Tunis sheep. Win and flock pictures are on

section of TunisTalk the yahoo group.
