Tunis Summer Spectacular - Illinois State Fairgrounds, Springfield, IL 

SALE REPORT

The 2008 Tunis Summer Spectacular Show and Sale was held on June 20 and 21 at the Illinois State Fair Grounds in Springfield , Illinois . Eight Tunis Breeders from across the country consigned 30 Tunis to the sale. Of the 30 head, 7 were rams (3 yearlings and 4 springs) and 23 were ewes (8 yearlings and 15 springs). Ted Coil from Fortville , Indiana was the judge for the show.

Champion ewe was consigned by RQL Farms and she was the first place yearling. Reserve Champion ewe was consigned by Tom Schambow and she was the second place yearling. Champion ram was consigned by Cass Hollow Tunis and he was the first place spring. The Reserve Champion ram was consigned by Tom Schambow and he was the second place spring.  Seven Spring Ewes were nominated for the National Futurity Contest. Cass Hollow Tunis/Tom Schambow were awarded the best consignment award.

Preliminary sale results are as follows:

Champion Ewe sold for $700; Reserve Champion Ewe sold for $800

Champion Ram sold for $1,500; Reserve Champion Ram did not sell

A total of 23 Tunis were sold at a total of $9,750 which averages $423.91 per head.

Yearling ewes 7 were sold at an average of $496.42

Early Spring Ewes 3 were sold at an average of $300

Intermediate Spring Ewes 6 were sold at an average of $304.16

Late Spring Ewes 4 were sold at an average of $275

Yearling and Spring Rams 3 were sold at an average of $816.66
